Technology, which is indispensable to modern life, is constantly changing, but it is in mobile technology—both the hardware and the uses we find for it—where the biggest transformations have occurred. While the Internet made us a global community, in many ways mobile technology is allowing us to become a connected society on the move. Mobility used to mean the capacity for physical, geographical, or social movement or transfer. In today’s usage, however, to be mobile refers to the capacity to stay connected to an electronic data source or network through wireless technology, virtually anywhere, anytime.
